Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Garda Locals

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the armed forces but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
