Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

So be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after getting the money, disappear without a trace.
