Scam Calls Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
