Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the military.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

So be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
