Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, these individuals contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Frauds and How to Respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
