Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scam artists who, at different times, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
