Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Businesses

They masquerade as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, once they have received the money, disappear.
