Scammers Impersonate Police for Fraud in Garda Region
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to ______ law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
