Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those having nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
