Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area by phone, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police at different times.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
