They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to Recognize the Scams and How to React

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears.
