Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be careful and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
