Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Warns Authorities

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
