Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
