Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Calls, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, firefighters, or municipal authorities.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the sum of money, disappear.
