Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area for Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have no relation to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— at the first suspicion of being targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
