Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance departments, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
