Scam Calls Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and High Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who variously claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
