Scammers Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Business Owners

The Carabinieri impersonators are calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to counterfeit magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by these individuals,

who have the money but then disappear without a trace.
