Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

had the sum of money, no longer make themselves visible.
