Carabinieri Impersonators Scamming Garda Region Businesses, Experts Warn

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken the money, vanishes without a trace.
