Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Locals

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
