Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Warns Local Authorities

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
