Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region Fraud Alert

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having the money, disappear and are no longer visible.
