Carabinieri Scam Calls in Garda: How to Recognize and React
The Carabinieri are impersonated when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
So, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
once money is involved, stop appearing.
