Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Hoteliers and Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who,
