Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Scam Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

had money but then disappear.
