Scam Alert: Fake Police Contacting Garda Businesses for Fraud
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
So, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money, and then disappears.
