Scam Phone Calls Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Residents
They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or town officials of the municipality.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
So, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
were after money and then disappear.
