Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, on various occasions, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
