Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Businesses with Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
