Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Police Phone Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
