Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Target Businesses

The Carabinieri are impersonated when phoning hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be attentive and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
