Fake Carabinieri Scams Targeting Garda Businesses and Hoteliers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve become a target by those who,

if they have money, will no longer show themselves.
