They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
