Scammers pose as Carabinieri offering fake magazine subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they are after money, will no longer show up.
