Garda Scammers Pose as Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, firefighters, or local police officers.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, if they have money, stop appearing.
