They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
