Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Businesses in Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or local municipal officers.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, then disappear.
