Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time,claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, will disappear without a trace.
