Scammers Impersonate Police Contacting Garda Businesses to Trick Victims

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would demand money, and then disappears.
