Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses

They are impersonating Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those having nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, but then disappears.
