Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
