Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to military-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

seeking money, no longer shows themselves.
