Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the military.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — at the first suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear without a trace.
