Impostors Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear without a trace.
