Impostor Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Phone Calls
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
They are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
