Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.
These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.
How to recognize scams
They often promote subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
wants money and then disappears.
