Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal fire department.
How to Recognize Scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who,
if they ask for money, no longer show themselves.
