Garda Police Warn of Carabinieri Phone Scams Targeting Local Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

These are not soldiers, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
